Hello World ... Again

I'm out of school and graduated, so now what do I do with my time?

First: Work. I've been at my new full-time job for a little more than a month, and I'm starting to get into the swing of things. The company does industrial testing on a contractual basis for other companies. They bought me, a mechatronics major, on board to help automate some of their more repetitive tests, and to possibly get more into consumer product reliability testing. Should be fun.

Second: More (fun) personal projects. More free time equals more time to work on projects, so I will be trying to document all them more as well. The projects will range from vehicles to furniture to general home repair. My next post should detail my latest long term project, so stay tuned.

Third: Blogging about projects (see above) and life in general. I would like to have a documented account of both my life and projects later on down the road to look back on. It also makes accomplishments feel a bit more concrete when you can write them down, and makes the failures more of a learning experience because you have to actually analyze them. I'd also like to have a place where I can share my knowledge and skills with others, as well as connect with other people. That got kind of corny, but hey whatever.

Forth: Work on going back for grad school. I'm the first person in my family to graduate from college. I am also the first of my friends to get done and then want to continue to grad school, but while I was still in, I didn't really have time to really look into how to actually get into grad school and what the actual process was like. Currently, I'd like to go to GA Tech for their Robotics PhD program, which you go into with just an undergraduate degree, and emerge with a doctorate. That sounds like a pretty good deal in my book. I just need to start talking to some people about it. Great thing about the company I'm working with now is that they offer tuition reimbursement, which would really come in handy. Also on the list for further education is a few certifications (Project Management, AutoCAD, etc. maybe) just to have some things to do in the meantime.

Fifth and on: I'll try to keep this place updated with information on any other interesting events that occur. FIRST Robotics 2014 season kickoff is this coming Saturday, January 4th. I help mentor a team during the season and help run the local regional event, so I'll be posting updates on that here shortly. Other than that, time will tell, but I hope to have a good amount of content for this site.

I'm going to be trying to form a habit of posting on here. Every other time I've started a blog, something comes along and distracts me. I start thinking "Nobody cares about my content online," but this time, I'm doing this mainly for myself, so that shouldn't be the case.
